About the Well-Being curriculum

The Well-Being curriculum is a complete, self-paced course in physical education & health, organised into 3 progressive levels and 9 modules. It opens with Foundations of Self-awareness and Core methods in Stress management, moves through Applying Sleep & rest and finishes with expert-level work on Leading practice in Routines & habits and Mastering Knowing when to seek help.

Across the whole path you work through 27 individual topics — from Self-awareness and Putting self-awareness to work at the start to Putting knowing when to seek help to work and Checking your understanding of knowing when to seek help by the end. The levels are estimated at 6 weeks · about 24 hours, 8 weeks · about 32 hours and 10 weeks · about 40 hours. Each level assumes the one before it, so you can work straight through from Intermediate to Expert, or start at the level that matches what you already know.

It is written for practitioners, students and informed general readers who want evidence-based explanations. Evidence quality is part of the teaching: you learn what a claim rests on, how strong the support is and where reasonable experts still disagree.

Every module pairs a written summary with a worked example, a short quiz to check the idea landed, and a project brief drawn from real practice. You are never asked to take a concept on trust: the reasoning, the common mistakes and the situations where the approach stops working are all laid out, so you finish a module able to explain the idea rather than only recognise it.

What you’ll be able to do

By the end of the Well-Being path you should be able to work confidently with:

Intermediate Well-Being

Start with Self-awareness, Stress management and Sleep & rest. Each module explains the idea, shows a worked example and ends with a short project, so Well-Being becomes something you can do rather than something you have only read about.

Modules: Foundations of Self-awareness · Core methods in Stress management · Applying Sleep & rest

  • Self-awareness: This module treats Self-awareness as a tool: the question it answers, what it assumes, and what a correct use of it looks like in Well-Being.
  • Putting self-awareness to work: Self-awareness is introduced from first principles, with the few terms you actually need and an example that shows how the idea behaves in practice.
  • Checking your understanding of self-awareness: This module treats Self-awareness as a tool: the question it answers, what it assumes, and what a correct use of it looks like in Well-Being.

Project: Write a one-page explanation of Self-awareness in your own words, with an example you chose yourself, and test it against the module checklist.

Advanced 8 weeks · about 32 hours 3 modules 9 topics

Advanced Well-Being

Build on the intermediate level through Relationships & boundaries, Purpose & values and Digital well-being. The emphasis shifts from knowing the ideas to choosing between them — trade-offs, failure modes and the reasoning behind each decision.

Modules: In depth Relationships & boundaries · Patterns and trade-offs in Purpose & values · Scaling Digital well-being

  • Relationships & boundaries: The module examines Relationships & boundaries closely, including the assumptions beneath it and what changes when those assumptions stop holding.
  • Putting relationships & boundaries to work: Here Relationships & boundaries becomes a design decision. You compare alternatives, justify a choice and test it against a harder problem.
  • Checking your understanding of relationships & boundaries: The module examines Relationships & boundaries closely, including the assumptions beneath it and what changes when those assumptions stop holding.

Project: Produce a short case analysis in which Relationships & boundaries drives the recommendation, including the alternatives you rejected and why.

Expert 10 weeks · about 40 hours 3 modules 9 topics

Expert Well-Being

Work at the edge of Well-Being through Gratitude & reflection, Routines & habits and Knowing when to seek help. The modules assume fluency and ask for judgement: designing, critiquing and defending work at a professional standard.

Modules: Frontiers of Gratitude & reflection · Leading practice in Routines & habits · Mastering Knowing when to seek help

  • Gratitude & reflection: This module asks you to critique and extend Gratitude & reflection rather than simply apply it, producing work another expert could review.
  • Putting gratitude & reflection to work: At expert level Gratitude & reflection is treated as a field of judgement: current practice, contested positions and the evidence behind each.
  • Checking your understanding of gratitude & reflection: This module asks you to critique and extend Gratitude & reflection rather than simply apply it, producing work another expert could review.

Project: Write a professional-standard brief on Gratitude & reflection — argument, evidence, limitations — plus a plan for taking the work further.
